I am moving to North Cornwall next week to start a new business with my family, as I am finding the job situation hopeless for anyone over 50 in the South East.

Bit of a long shot but has anyone used this garage as they seem to be my closest independent and I think the clutch on my TD4 is feeling fragile?

They are close to me but I do all my own spanner work so I know nothing about them

Good luck with the business chap, the grass is certainly greener, but its not easier than the South East down here. Cornwall has the poorest economy in the Country.
I moved down 5 years ago and am the poorest I have ever been, but also am the happiest I have ever been too, n thats way way better imo :0)

Moores are very expensive. Personally I wouldn't use them.
DP Land Rovers, Trevecca LR or Tamar 4x4 are preferable.

Much the same as me. I moved from Surrey to Cornwall in 99 when the company I worked for won a large contract which they asked me to head up. After a few years things didn't quite go to plan as the customer went bust so me and a lot of very skilled and loyal engineers got laid off. That's when I discovered how hard it is to earn a decent wage or even get a job down this way. But I'd rather be poor in Cornwall than comfortable in Surrey!!

Thanks for the info and encouragement.
I will be re-locating to a village just outside Bude, so may look North into Devon (Bideford/Barnstaple) for repairs as Liskard/Plymouth may be a bit of a trek.

We are opening a new gift/coffee shop on the main A39 in Kilkhampton and will be happy to offer all who who visit and mention LandyZone a discount on their refreshments. Opps. in danger of drifting in :nospamhere: territory - Sorry

I pass through Kilkampton from time to time - on our way to shooting at Clovelly.
There's normally 9 or 10 of us, so we'll call in for breakfast.

I have total respect for people who take the plunge like you are!

I had originally intended to move to Cornwall when I moved down from Landan 16 years ago, but I found work in Somerset and got stuck here, not that I mind!

Nahhh...Kerching, even at mates rates. Have you seen the profit on a cup of tea? Just need to pull in the punters.
All welcome and we will even have a gift shop for the ladies as well.

I am now 57 and worked for 39 years solid with just weekends and holidays for breaks. Then I got made redundant and now after two years of unsuccessfully looking for work this has come just at the right time.

Better to say "Ahh well at least we gave it a go" rather than "What if"
After all, what's the worst that can happen.............

You were not wrong with this comment, wish I'd seen it before I used them. Cost of parts if bought from LR Direct £126.76. Moores charged me £247.24 plus £250 labour! Expensive lesson.
