Dear Landyfolk,

I my car has been in the garage and had mods and a few repairs done (I lack space to do this in central London).

I had the following done:

Rock sliders added
Rear ladder
Aux battery cradle
Tmax splitter
Driving and nudge car lights wired up to cabin buttons
Rear fuel tank lines leaking and replaced

Out of curiosity how long do you think a mechanic would need to do all the above? I question as I was shocked and the bill was 3 times what I expected.

Not much to go on what did they charge you.
How many hours labour is on the bill.
Wiring can take time if they did it correctly by removing trim.
I would also think the fuel line could take a while.

Purposely left it off to see people views first however it's come to 18 hours work at £60 per hour

A few hours there ... but knowing how even the simplest of jobs can throw up a problem it's not always so easy to quantify

And those are "man hours", so two blokes working at say the wiring or the fuel line jobs could soon rack up the costs.

Interesting! Yeah I know the chap at my garage would never rip me off. Just astonished at how long these things take. Makes me weary of trying to tackle the sunroof as I have no where to secure the vehicle if it goes tits up
