The early facelift headlights were very prone to misting, and LR changed the breathers on the rear of the lamp unit to try and prevent it.
Even new lamp units can still mist up, and LR say it is normal unless the droplets start " pooling " and running down the inside of the lens.
Other D2 owners have reported sucsess with this by completely removing the breathers.

Thanks I will try removing just the one headlight breather that is misting and see how it goes you never know I may get lucky but what a response from LR can you imagine BMW or MERCEDES saying to its customers that misting in the headlamps is normal !!!!!!!!!!! ( I dont think so )
just thought I would update on my misted front headlights. I removed the whole assembly and used a hairdryer to remove the water that was lying in the bottom, I them removed the breather plugs from the back put it all back and its now been 4 weeks and still no water or misting so far so good !! will let you know if I start getting condensation again thanks for all your help

Tape a few pieces newspaper over the lights nd leave the lights on for a bit.that some times works
Regarding the breathers if you remove the whole front headlamp assembly you can see at the back there are 4 rubber plugs I just pulled them out and keep them in the glove box just in case the condensation returns but so far it all looks ok just have to see how it goes in the winter

Hi Tobytess I guessed you have fixed it by now if you haven't then you need a LR part number XZX500010 HEADLAMP VENT TUBE SET you get 3 vents in a set. One set for each headlight around £2.50 a set from your LR dealer. They are brilliant worked a treat on mine, job done!!

took my headlights out, fitted new rubbers from paddocks, have to say as an update no more misted up front lights, they were bad before, but now good!!

I removed both D2a headlight assemblies today, took off the three rubber "vents" on both headlight assemblies and removed all four globes from each assembly (I was installing new Osram Night Breaker Laser (H7) globes on both dipped beams since one old globe had blown and I wanted to upgrade); I then blew each assembly through the four light holes at the back with a hair dryer for 1/2 an hour to get rid of moisture droplets on the inside of the lens. I then lubricated the o-ring seals on each cap and secured them once again and then when the lights had cooled back down I put the vents back on and reinstalled both headlight assemblies. Look great now - see how we go with moisture build-up...
Are the improved vents better? Hard to tell what version vents I have?
As someone suggested before, if this doesn't work I might plonk a little bag of silica gel beads (bagged) behind one of the lenses.
