Hi all,

I got myself a 300 tdi about two months ago, great motor , even the wife likes it. Or should i say she did.
Whilest drivin the car over the past three weeks the gear change has become more and more notchy on 1st and 2nd gear then 2nd got to the point where she refused to go in on occaision. I changed the oil and put 75s in as that seems to be something alot of you do. There is no difference with the gears and i fear the worst (new box needed).
Have any of you got any ideas as what else it could be?

double de-clutching dont work if its gone bad - 1st-2nd is easy - just dont gun it - change up nice an early. The big problem is coming down from 3rd-2nd! I find it is easier to stop and start agin....:(
 
Hi all,
Tried double de-clutching it doesn't make any difference still hit n miss to get second but first and third are starting to get difficult. Im thinkin it might be time for a new box, how hard are they to fit and what costs will i be lookin at? Im alright with the spanners so i'll be doing it myself, is there any speacil tools i will need and anything else i should replace while the box is out?

ask Mondo - he has done one recently - apparently fokin heavy - and change the clutch at the same time.
