Hello there folks hope your all well. My TD5 developed a problem last night it was very lumpy on tickover and wasn't pulling right turned the engine off restarted it and runs sweet as a nut. Same scenario this morning. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks Mike.

Read fault codes...untill then check for oil in the red plug and the earth connections on the rail near the battery/jack's compartment

This limp-home situation can be triggered but insufficient volts coming to the transmission ECU during starting, from the cars main battery.

If in any doubt, put the battery on charge for at least 12hrs and see if the problem re-occurs.

Thanks, Dave. I have had the gearbox go into limp when I turned the key to fast ages ago. The D on the dash flashed that time. This time it's starting fine there are no lights on the dash at all and its only when several miles into a journey it goes into limp mode. If I pull over turn it off then fire it back up it runs normal again.

Had a look at the wastegate and it moves with the plyers. The disco starts fine from cold and as soon as it warms up it starts missing turn it off then on again and would run fine all day. Any ideas folks?

Did you check the red plug and socket on the ECU for oil? If you didn't it's worthwhile - clean it with a clutch and brake aerosol cleaner.

Dave
Yeah cleaned that out was a bit in there but not loads. Cleaned it several times but it made no difference to the mis-fire. I bought the harness from a landy place on ebay for 30 quid brand new delivered. Fitted it and it fired up and seems to have cured it touch wood.
