Guys,
when my front wipers complete a cycle I'm getting a mechanical grate/graunch noise....any suggestions apart from swan vestas? :0)

mine do the same !!!

not touched em yet but on my last freelander I removed motor and linkage - part of linkage were loose and in great need of some lubrication.

Cleaned everything up - tightened anything that could be tightened and lubricated everything

They were fine after that

The wiper spring makes an odd noise, my does it the 'odd' time

Mine makes a noise sometimes...was thinking i really should investigate. How easy is it to get at the mechanism?

not too difficult - apart from me loosing some of the plastic fasteners from the scuttle trim !!!!!!!

Yeah, easy, take wiper arms off, prize off the screw rivet fixings and remove the plastic scuttle.
