Hi guys, quite an insignificant subject here but what colour mats do you have with your green carpets?

I don't really like rubber mats. I'm thinking beige would be the way to go as I have the grey/beige colour leather seats with greeny/blue carpets and trim.

I'd like black as they don't show muck up quite so well but think they would look odd with the seats and carpet. Beige would show muck up.

You have a green/biege interior and you're worried about what colour floor mats to fit

imo ..

best to fit a type that don't slip forward 'n foul the pedals
i.e rubber type with the non-slip under texture

Have a look on e bay they sell Freelander mats in different colours.

I've got dark grey/black carpet and black rubber mats.

There's nowt wrong with wanting yer Freelander to look nice. You would be amazed how much polishing and pampering goes on in the tratter forums.

I cant wait to get some free time to do mine! I'm a car detailer so it's what I do! big turn around coming soon. One reason I am wanting mine to look good and the only reason I chose black!

I'll be using mine as a bit of a work van.

I bought loads of stuff like megs smooth surface kit, AG polish (can yer tell I've been on detailing world) and colliniet 476s plus all the micro fibres needed etc to do mine. Int got round to it yet but plan to do it this year. Never been done before and it has tiny hairline scratches (swirls) from using sponges to wash it. I now use a wash mit with the 2 bucket method. Need to get round to finishing the paint chips first.

Problem is when you start you can't stop! One word of warning - stay away from detailing world classified forum lol. Thats if you want to keep your money in your pocket haha. Soon you will be wanting a polisher, then more polishes and waxes etc. Then you will like your results that much you will want more durable finishes etc lol.

Yes I could see that happening with others. I already spend enough on my heap as it is. And that's just the cost of repairs.

What APC do you think it best for interior use on the plastics like the dash and door trim etc? It's the only thing on the list to get I think.

i like cleaning the Freelander if the kids are on one the car needs washing....

best thing i found lately is a clay kit when we first got the Freelander it was rough feeling paint tried all sorts and then tried a clay kit and boom silky smooth without damaging the paint ever since just locks of soapy water and lots of polish and wax for almost 13 yrs old it still comes out really really nice

There are loads, I personally like Gtechniq W2 but it doesn't foam up very well. If I am wanting something to foam up more (to aid cleaning fabric etc) I will use Bilt Hamber Surfex HD.

It can be diluted a hell of a long way. Something rediculous like 200:1.

Actually now you mention it I probably like surfex HD as much as W2. Failing that ordinary kitchen flash will work but I don't think it works quite as well - just lots cheaper. Does leave a nice smell though.

Green carpet you are not Irish are you because in Ireland the regard green on a car as unlucky and greeny /blue carpets . I think I would join the tratter boys and buy you at least the box of matches to go with the petrol LOL

Thanks. I tried flash before but it seems to attack your hands and you need to wash it off as opposed to wipe it off.

Did you dilute it with water? I tend to use gloves now as I use a number of chemical stuff when cleaning the car. I never used to bother but when you start doing it daily it takes it toll.

Mo, just spray straight from the bottle. No wonder it was so harsh. Will water it down if I use it next time.

Yeah buddy. Defo! All all purpose cleaners should be diluted and rinsed off on cars.

Obviously follow guidlines for specific product but heres what I would use.

4:1 For degreasing
5:1 For wax/sealant removing/ moderate grease etc and for cleaning wheel arches
8:1 for fabric and interior plastics.
10:1 for cleaning around badges/ grills etc.

These are just rough guidelines. Depending on the soilage or even product used I might change these. I would almost always use a detailing brush to agitate it too then hose it off.

There is a more specific guidlines somewhere. I tend to mix it accordingly to the job with a guage of what I think Ill need. I don't fill a whole bottle then I don't waste it. When doing a bigger job I will sometimes have a weak mix and a stronger mix so I don't have to keep messing around. In all honesty your usually ok with around 5:1 for everything as long as its rinsed away properly.
