was off roading at a mates in dorset, and may have taken a mound a little quick and when we went over it i heard a rather loud clunk from the back right wheel. so stopped, got out and had a butchers.
first thing i noticed from a distance was the apparent lack of a shock :)
on closer inspection the metal rod has snapped clean in half. then on even closer inspection noticed that due to the lack of the shock the spring had managed to come out of the seating and was 4/5s on the mount. rallied the troops and we all went back to my mates farm, which is like a land rover graveyard. rumaged around and located a rear defender axle with some shocks on it. took one off and removed the old shock. on inspection both ends of the broken rod were rusted. which is rather worrying, must have been broken for some time without me noticing. :(

luckily it was a standard one, and was replaced within 20 mins of noticing it.

its those bloody red land rovers james :)
