No hero here

I don't posses enough trophys to be called a hero. My point IS: 100 inch seems a great idea but for all the hassle and hoops you need to jump through you end up wih the above motor in your pics which is no better than a rrc that's had some body work to fit 33 inh tyres. For the hassle I personally would just make the mods to fit decent tyres every one has there own idea and that's great but me it seems lots for little gain

There are plenty of 100 inches around here not 1 would I wish to own. All have something that puts me off. Spending money getting an engine back up to std performance or fitting a locker before the expense of modifying the body chassis. So many motors are built and so many never ever even serviced or have a decent running engine. What's a realistic cost of a 100 inch build? I reckon its got to be a couple of thousand which is what 4 or 5 rotten discos? Well I wouldn't expect Much change from £600 just to get a V8 back to scratch (I just spent 130 on gaskets rings and new big end shells). If your dream is to own and
Or build a 100 inch defender then nothing and nobody should deter you. If you build it in the belief it's cheaper than welding up the bodywork I think you need to work out the costs.

There is an awesome green discovery going around here the engine and it's whole setup looks very much std. It's not 10 feet tall nor has wide ass tyres but believe me the driver can drive it, the engine is awesome and he kicks my ass and many others very regularly when we compete. He has built a very good vehicle but for the average person that drives past it's just another old disco.

Mark L, I see your mates 100 is on plates! Is it driven on the road? How did he go about making it legal?

I must say that IMPO a semi prepped anything in the right hands, would **** over a fully prepped something in a bigginners hands!

Plus sometimes it is good to just have fun! I have found that depending on company, when I have got stuck or failed a climb, I have had more fun. Just daying that a good vehicle is one that makes me smile. So even if my 100 is not fully kitted! It will do exactly what I want it to... Put a smile on my face!

Thank you for that link! Some more reading and emails/ letters/ calls to follow, hopefully will get a definiative answer from DVLA and will post details once I have them! Meanwhile! Anyone with or knows of completed 100's could you please post pics

and this weekend we were at an event and the land agent had a 100" Series 1 and it was just epic... goin by the K.I.S.S principle!

100" RRC chassis
standard V8 with a three speed auto
salisbury rear axle
750x16 ex-MOD tyres
custom made series one body with built in spaceframe, tubular wings and in-built rollcage

if you drove past it you would probably think it was a lifted series 1 on Rostyles. very simple. very effective. all home made and all standard parts!

Hi all. Can't believe I have just found my old classic Range Rover!
It's the blue one in this pic XRO 1K.
Looks a bit different now though.
I owned it in approximately 1985.
