My p38 is throwing a maf sensor fault.
P0101

She has a very oily K&N filter which i think hasn't helped.

If its throwing a code does that mean its completely kapput or can it be saved with some MAF sensor cleaner????

K&N filters with oil will feck a MAF in short order - remove said waste of time and fit a proper filter.

Check it for oil and any green corrosion, if its green it's buggerd!!
There's a couple of vids o youtube using a multimeter that might help to give you an answer
