just a quick question is the mesh in a maf important as mine was all loose/ripped so took it out as thought it would do more harm than good can anyone shed any light its a 1998 4.0 p38 by the way thanks

i cant see that it would do any harm apart from if the air filter started to break up and bits could then pass into the engine
