I'm off to see an acquaintance tomorrow who owns an M-Sport Freelander. I'm hoping to take a few pics while I'm there. Is there any specific area anyone would like me to photograph ?
Was thinking of trying to get some pics of the manual conversion for you guys too.
Anything I can make some money off![]()
. Like you'r thinking .
I thought I'd copy the raised air intakes..........I'm sure there's a market for them![]()
Left hand box mounting is a mix of parts Consisting of the standard auto box chassis mount and a fabricated steel hanger to mate it to the box. Right hand mount is a standard KV6 mount.Ok so here are a few of pics of he engine mounts. The manual conversion plate wasn't visible so never got a pic of it. The manual gearbox is a standard 1.8 with straight cut Lotus internal gears. Rakeway designed and fabricated the conversion plate which uses a single piece of billet aluminium and charged a whopping £6500 for them, which is probably why they are reluctant to make any more for us mere mortals at a wholly more realistic price.
My guy says he'll send me a link to his facebook page which will give forum users access to thousands of pics of his vehicle in action and in detail. The vehicle he has for sale is NOT the one seen being rolled on Youtube. He sold that one back to Land Rover and it is currently doing the rounds as part of a Land Rover exhibition.

I know they're a little disappointing but like I said, I'll post the link to the Facebook page ASAP.
:5bdrool5: :5bdrool5: , and fender bars , don't forget about fender barsStrut brace looks interesting, I know someone who wants a one of them...
A few nub questions:
1. The manual conversion plate - is that to line up the gearbox with the engine because of misaligned bolts?
2. What's going on with that coolant bottle? Seems to have more return pipes than standard. Does that car have a different coolant system?
The standard K4 box won't fit the KV6 engine as the bell pattern is completely different. There is a bit of a grey area around the L series box mating to the KV6 too. In a Rover the L series and KV6 share the same bell pattern, this happens to be the same as the M / T series.
I can't work out what shape bell LR fitted to the engine when the L series engine went in to the Freelander. Was the box an uprated K series box with a different engine end plate (L series is a bolt on affair). Or was the L series box kept the same bell pattern as the Rover L series engine? I've yet to try it.
I recognise the bottle but off hand can't think what it's off. Or as to what the extra pipe would be for.
I have a spare gearbox if you want to look?
Bloody hell that was fast!!Want any measurements?
