Main thing is to check the diaphragm in the vapouriser isn't perforated, the filters between the vapouriser and the engine are changed and the setup checked on a computer, including gas feed pressures etc etc.

I asked the question a few weeks ago of the guy who did our vehicle back in 2005. The filters are the most important thing he said, they were about £15 each but you can probably get them cheaper on Fleabay.

I also got the software and cable for the Zavoli Multipoint controller anbd can check it myself.

I asked the q cos i dont think the economy is as good as some folk reckon, i'll get it booked in for a service, around town i got 50 miles for £15 of gas which compared to around 12mpg for the 3.9 dont seem that much better
 
Ours does about 16 to the gallon on gas on a run, bit more if you take it easy.

Lpg is 49.9p a litre locally.

If you're getting 12-16 per gallon on petrol and slightly less on gas, then they seem to be the 'average' figures that most folks seem to be getting.

If you are getting something wildly different, then you either have a problem, or if the other way, we would all like to know what's under the bonnet on your Disco!

What sort of gas system have you got and which engine/carb/injection?

i havent run it on petrol but took the figures out the book
3.9i tartarini tec99, i filled up and went down to weston and filled up again down there cost me £19 @ 48p and then again when i got back £15.80 @ 52p 105 miles, ran it well down in the red last week and put £38 in @ 52p its well in the red again and its done 190 miles

I reckon you are doing ok £15.80 @52pl is around 30litres
105miles for 30l is 3.5miles per litre which is nearly 16 mpg thats pretty good as that equates to 32mpg with petrol at £1.04

it dont seem a lot when i keep filling that bleeding tank up :D, mines a 7 seater but the rear seats have been removed to make way for the 100l tank, im thinking of having underslung tanks and reinstating the 2 rear seats been tryin to get some tanks but as of yet no joy

We have two X 30L side sill tanks, giving 48 litres nominal capacity, although we have seen 49+ litres on one fill.

We have bought a 110L tank to go behind the rear seats, just had it stripped and repainted in white powder coat. We have the rear 6th/7th seats but don't use them, our kids are in their mid-30's :D

Got to make a framework up to hold the tank, and some means of getting the frame fixed to the floor so we can take it out quickly should the need arise.

Plus there are venting and hoses to sort out.

Keeping the original petrol tank is useful, if expensive to fill up, gives a working range that is practical. The new tank with increase that by 400 miles or so, should be able to get nearly 700 mile range.

We don't run ours continuously on gas, we try and give it a while on petrol most days, just so it doesn't forget what it tastes like! ;)
