Normal if your using a "thick" grade of oil in winter.

Plus, plus on that, sounds a bit frosty and frozen over there at present.

Like @discool said get some (much) lighter grade engine oil in the sump, you'll end up stuffing your oil pump.

cheers guys , yes ive got 15/ 40 in at mo will drop it and maybe go 5/30 or 10/30

I'd suggest 5/30 as a maximum for the cold, (read freezing), weather you are experiencing at moment.
