the used BCU as long as it's not immobilised is completely programmable to any D2... only dedicated tester is needed(nanocom, hawkeye, lynx, etc)... i programmed a few for friends without problems

Thats a releif, only the mileage issue then? my disco has only done 77000 miles but it's about to go to 150,000 plus, is there a way to restore my mileage?

if the man who makes the programming knows what he's doing the mileage stored in the BCU is irrelevant... just dont let that specialist who told you it's not possible to do that ...there are no issues at all

Just thought I'd give an update on the loss of instruments, I connected the used instrument unit and everything is back to normal, displays 159,000 miles.
I took my instrument unit to my local TV repair man (has a TD5 Disco) and he was able to repair the damaged tracks, so I put mine back in and have 77,000 miles again, happy days.
the mileage is flashing so It'll need connecting to T4 to rectify that.
I have found out that it's possible to swap the speedo board that contains the mileage record chip into the replacement instrument unit which would negate the mileage problems. Have got a replacement plug for the fuel pump so just that to do tomorrow.
So an expensive exercise, new pump, 2nd hand instruments, BCU and fuse block which I can resell if need be, but still considerably cheaper than new parts and £100.00/hour labour. I hope this post helps anyone who is experiencing similar problems.
