accelerator/power Problem
I have a
1998/1999
S reg
Discovery 1
safari
Automatic
2.5 cc
Diesel

When im driving the land rover i will get to a speed in happy with and take my foot of the accelerator and just put enough pressure on the pedal to keep the disco at the same speed (Cruising) .
This is when the engine will loose power and a (check Engine) light will come on.
to get the light to go out and get power back all I have to do is press down or release the pedal a bit and every thing is ok.

If you have any advice it would be most appreciated

sounds like the first thing you want to do is to get it plugged into a diagnostic computer.

what's the milage?
when you removed the egr did you clean out the intercooler?
any smoke, what colour is it?
that'll do fer a start

Have you Checked your lift pump is working ? Undo the bleed screw on top of fuel filter and see if fuel pumps out without any air bubbles.

had the same prob, changed the throttle pot after lenghty discussion and advice on here from "Big Lad" and problem solved.

i emailed all the guys breaking disco's of the same age/engine /auto box, and gor one for £20, brilliant! all thanks to the Big Lad..... this guy is a genius!!
