ok, I'm new here, be gentle!!!

Im looking at swapping my sedona for a landy 110 S/W just have a couple of questions.

what to look for? common issues, I know about bulkhead/outrigger issues, and just chassis generally, but anything else?

what mpg to expect? looking round here seems to show 25-35mpg from a 2.5deisel, about the same as i get from the 2.9 in the sedona.

presumably the landy deisel will run just fine on biodeisel.

how well to modern landys cope on the motorway, the last landy i was in was my dads about 18 years ago, a perkins deisel, still stuggled to get 60 on the motorway, I don't do much motorway cruising solo, but do tow our caravan a bit

last one (for now) my licence only allows me to drive an 8 passenger seat vehicle, so when did the s/w change from this

to this

and, yes I know the second pic is 9 seats, but take the front centre out an whack a cubby in, sorted...

One detail missing really. How much are you looking to spend on one ?

You can have anything from a tired V8/TD to a Puma engined shiny model. You can get 30 MPG from a 300Tdi all day and a lot of people like them as they are the last model before the addition of electronics to the engine.

How competant are you with the spanners ? I only ask because it opens the options up and makes it so much cheaper to own :D

Sorry about all the questions but they need to be asked. Oh and welcome :)

If you ask on here someone in the Leeds area might offer to take you viewing vehicles before you buy

looking around the 5-6K mark, def no more than 6K.
Im handy enough with the spanners, another reason for me going towards a landy, every vehicle i have had has had progressivly less I am able to work on without a computer!
at least even a computerised landy is still a big meccano kit.

If you read the forums, TD5's are now cheaper than 300tdi's owing to peoples ongoing mistrust in the electronics. TD5's can be chipped and they do perform better on the motorway than the 300tdi's.

As to what to look for. Well they are in some ways quite simple vehicles, but there is more to them. As long as the main structure is sound all the rest hamgs onto it.
