I am about to replace the offside inner wing with metal and wondered if not replacing some of the ornamental bits (cruise control, horn thing which, think, is for the alarm. etc) would be as easy as just not putting them back, or would it ferk something in the ECU, if it suspected that I was attempting to make it go fast by lightening it?

Lol i doubt that loosing a couple of pounds/kilos will make much difference to a vehical that has the aerodynamic profile of a brick.

:D Not really the reason for leaving them off. I just don't want to have to put them back on if I don't have to, the less unnecessary clutter the better in my opinion. Any way I am always a bit worried that if I go much above walking pace something might spontaneously wear out and/or fall off. I don't want, the already challenged, electrickery throwing a wobbler if it gets wind that I've amputated something.

If you are going to remove the cruise then i would suggest removing all that comes with it, for example the relay, and the sensors, and if It as its own fuse I would remove that as well, the main pump unit is under the spare battery tray with 3/4 wire connections which are again fed to another relay, its playing safe I guess. as for anything to do with the alarm if its ok i would leave well alone because if anything goes wrong it could effect immobiliser etc I'm sure. for the sake of a couple of self tappers leave it in there. good luck

Discoveries are designed to lighten themselves by rusting
Which is compensated by adding lights, roof racks winch bumpers and winches, numerous guards and all sorts of other things that make it run at around 2.5 ton lol
