just took old lift pump off, cleaned old gasket and now cannot get new pump to fit.

The arm the enters into the engine and sits on the Camshaft will not go in far enough it feels like its hitting the camshaft and will not locate ontop of below or in any orientation.....

Help!

should sit against cam and lever should push in fairly firmly against the diaphragm spring, turning engine over a little should help ,also check levers are the same length new and old

cheers James (again)

I thought balls to it and started tighten bolts and that pulled it all into place, The beast has got her Guts back!! and is not ****ing diesel everywhere!

silly question here guys i know, but is the lift pump the the lil pump thing ya use to manually pump oil into the fuel filter??

Thanks guys.. and can i also ask.. the lil manual pump on the side, it feels very un-pumpy (if theres even a word) kinda just moves up and down, is that right??

also if im gonna change my fuel filter, will it just be sufficient to fill it up with new fuel and not bother pumping it through? can i go wrong here? 200tdi.

the lever on outside may not work they often dont ,but sometimes engine just need clicking over as inner lever will be pushed up already by cam,
