got myself a lift kit off ebay.. :)

+2" springs and dampers..:)

only problem is i dont kno which go on front and which on back??

two are longer and two obviously a bit shorter.. i could take off one front and one back spring to see which are longer but would be easier to do one axle at a time..

i would guess the longer ones go on the front as they carry more weight and will therefore compress further?

so could someone please tell me if the longer springs go on front or back? :)

thanks....

bigger ones go on back nick i was talking to me local landy man yesterday he told me, think front are 40mm and back are 50mm, im thinking about a lift kit myself

cheers joe...

keep an eye on ebay m8... took me a while to get mine but only £112+ post...

much better than £500+

got a steering guard too for £40... and a soft A-bar for £30.. mine goes right under front valance so it would stop me fittin steering guard i think...

just gotta find time before next sat to get it all fitted..

Be careful ... 'it all depends' .. ;)

Std Disco springs are longer with thinner wire on the front. rears are shorter with thicker/stiffer wire.

My HD springs are the same, longer at the front, shorter at the rear .. Different manufacturers, different spring rates might have different characteristics and different dimensions.

Ask the ebay vendor ...

oh great... dont kno the brand... they are blue so poss bearmach or whatever they are called..

hmmm... dont wanna have to fit and then find one end up in air, and have to take em all off to swop over again...

well paul, if the springs are the same thickness of wire.. then the longer ones should be on front... which i think is the case..

what do i do??? aaargh...

how do i set up a vote, let the masses decide front or rear.....

I'd go longer on the front, same as standard, see how it looks, it should sit level. If it's odd then swap 'em and try again .. it's an easy enough job.

Should sit level, like this ..

So that the tops of the tyres are level with body stripe/rubbing strip.

cool... cheers..

what size tyres are them??

look balanced with motor, not too big, not too small..

31 x 10.3 BFG AT's on 8j steel rims .. ;)

Heavy Duty shocks, standard height, but 'cos they're HD they stop drooping of the standard soft suspension, which effectively lifts it 40mm at rest.

easy enough job!!!!!! fukin ell!!!!

started at 5.30 after work... just got one front one done...

bolt on bottom of damper undid bout alf way then locked solid, then rounded... then the heavens opened... wouldn't wind on or off... couldnt get grinder out in rain.. oldskool hacksaw found.. took alf hour to saw through it!!

i'm knackered... ****ed wet through.. havin a beer and a pizza...:)

hope it aint rainin in the mornin...:(

still wouldnt have any other motor though...:D

I guess my changes have been easy 'cos I prepared for them .. Plusgas is your friend .. as is Copaslip ... ;)

do you think just HD standard springs will make my 7.50 R16 look less 'too big' for my disco? or shall i go for a small lift (1") as i dont want all the extra, possible' costs related with a 2"?

not a good look for a disco.....

guess i start again in the mornin!!!
