Just checked on the LEZ checker ..

Vehicle: P213NAB
Date Status
22 Apr 2012 to onwards

Not Subject to LEZ

What does not subject to the Low Emission Zone mean?
According to our records this vehicle is not subject to the Low Emission Zone and is not required to meet the Low Emission Zone standards this time.

Nice, may have to go to London soon then .. with shed-loads of countryside hanging odd the body ... ;)

I am sure the 90 is exempt (in all configurations). There is a bloke not far from me with an ex MOD 90 and he's out in his most days.

my disco 1 doosel 7 seater is used to visit my daughter who lives about a mile inside M25,
and only just inside the LEZ.

I just check every 6 months or so on the LEZ checker.

Tha majority of 90's are registered as commercial vehicles, all commercials need to be LEZ compliant...

It's all to do with body type as shown on the log book.
Mine is shown as 'truck utility' which makes it subject to the LEZ.
Nothing to do with chassis numbers.

To quote DVLA. Commercial variants have a different vin No to the station wagon.(deffo for TD5) i have looked into it and spoke to them.

Haven't had time to look on TfL web site yet but I seem to remember the 90 being (not subject) to the LEZ I will check site and get back. I hope I'm right I remember reading the news of the LEZ last year and getting that cold chill up my spine.

That wont make any difference. The VW van I had was on a commercial ViN number, completley different to the camper van ViN's, as long as you can convince them that the vehicle is being used for non commercial use (i.e. estate car) then they will change it. With mine I had to send pictures of all parts of the conversion and the external pictures had to clearly show the registration mark.

Section 7 of the V5 allows you to update with the DVLA of any changes to the vehicle. If it now has rear windows and rear seats it is now an estate vehicle or motor car (depending on what you want to put). As long as you send a cover letter and detailed pictures there is no reason for them to refuse. Dont get me wrong, I imagine they will send it back saying you forgot to cross a T or something but if you persevere it will get changed

Sorry but that won't work with a Defender. I know people that have tryed.

It should do, I know its a pain doing it with commercial to non commercial but alot of VW's are removed from commercial use this way, it can be a right pain and often they return your paperwork saying that it cant be transfered but it can. It took me 3 times of sending off paperwork (first without pics, second was unsatisfactory pics and third was OK) to do it.

The DVLA are a funny bunch, most of them dont know whats what, they are as bad as VOSA not knowing wether I can replace my MOT ramp or not despite them making the rules!!

Edit - I will add that the 'conversion' needs to be done properly and meet all regs (i.e. seatbelts e.t.c.), you may need to get it checked at a DVLA test center possibly, with my van I was pre-seatbelts in the rear so didnt fit them e.t.c

It's all to do with body type no matter what engine is in the 90 my 90 is quoted as an estate on the v5 and exempt from lez so I can go in not that I do, as I said there was a thread on here a while ago about getting the body type changed to an estate on a 90 that had had seats and windows fitted but loads of red tape around that and very difficult to get around, if your 90 is a van back or pick up then it may be a case of your just fooked sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I will see if I can find the earlier thread for info.

I think thats the killer, it can be done but its the usual red tape rubbish that gets in the way!

Also I am mistaken a petrol can go in the lez it affects diesels, best bet stick a big v8 in and reregister with dvla change of fuel type then the lez site will change your motor to exempt, total utter maddness but what do you expect form these prats that run this country they don't care cause they is all driving brand new rrs and mercs all paid for by ur taxes bastids
