Hi. This might sound like a daft question but can leaking leak off pipes cause a drop in power? My 2.5dse is slow 70mph max dead on hills and pulling away. I wasn't expecting it to fly just be drivable my old 2.5di tranny was quicker! Going to clean out the intercooler and inlet manifold an change the fuel filter hoping to see a difference!

Possibly.....

I would be looking at the MAP sensor and its associated pipe and wiring....

Is there a noticable lack of grunt around 2500-3000rpm??? If so, take a goosey at the MAP sensor!

Yeah it's a pig to start and they are leaking badly.

If it's difficult to start from cold then, if replacing the leak-off pipes doesn't cure it, have a look at your in-tank pump's performance and your glow plugs.

If it's difficult to start when hot then your injector pump needs adjusting OR there are kits available to convince the engine that it's always cold at start-up thereby overcoming this.

:D

P38DAVE,
I've just seen your other thread on central locking, you're not having much luck are you?
Can I suggest that you get a location into your on-screen details. There might be someone on here local to you who might help.

Thank you all for your replys. Found the map sensor and disconnected the hose an took it for a drive an it's just the same so it's likely had it. Is fine after the first morning start starts right away after that. Do you have to remove the radiator or something to get the intercooler off? Il update my profile I'm in west Cumbria.

That's just guessing. Check the in tank pump or get it on diagnostics before you think of shelling out to replace the MAP sensor.
Intercooler comes out without removing the RAD.

Is there a way of checking the pump without dropping the tank?
Drop the fuel filter, put a container under the housing, turn on the ignition with the engine cold, the pump should run for as long as the glowplug light is on.
