Whilst looking under my Disco 1 to see if I had a hole in the exhaust which thankfully I don't I spotted this well leaky bit.





So what is the cylindrical bit connected to the propshaft which appears to be losing a little bit of oil?

the handbrake lol

Perhaps its just your transfer box tha leaky and whilst driving the oil has been carried by the wind onto the drum

Thanks for that, I'll have to get under it and have a good look at the weekend.
If the transfer box is the guilty lump are there any usual leaks or problems I should look out for?

I'd be surprised if it wasn't leaking, if you look underneath mine its covered in oil from the sump back to the transfer box

I put it down to being a Land Rover, if its not leaking its out of oil

Fair enough, well that and the copious amounts of wax oil it has supposedly had should keep the rust at bay

I was planning on servicing the beastie some point soon so will attend to it then.
