Looking for a bit of help from the people who are in the know.

I have a Freelander II, bought brand new in 2012.

6 months from new I had a warning message saying I had to take it in for an oil service.

I took it in and got charged for a new filter, but this is not the problem.
When I picked it up I was told that there was a lower sump oil leak, and that I had to bring it back in for a new seal.

This was done but at the first years service (March 2013) there was another leak from the lower sump which again was allegedly fixed. I was asked to bring the car in after four months of running so they could check that everything was sealed as it should be.

After the four month passed, again I took it in to the dealers where I was told that there was an upper and a lower sump leak which again they supposedly fixed.

Two months ago the oil service oil light appeared on the dash again and today I was told that there is, yet again, a lower sump

Is there anything i can force the dealer to do, to fix it properly. Or who should I be talking to to make this problem go away.

Cheers for you help.

Well if they have replaced the lower sump gasket a couple of times and it keeps leaking. Then i'm going to have to take a guess that the lower sump isn't leaking and that something above it is.

I know that the second sumps on these are quite common for leaking, as are the rear main and the seals which sit around it.

If you have any mechanical knowledge at all id ask to see the leak with the undertray removed, so you can verify what they are telling you.

If at any point of this you are unhappy, I'd talk to customer services about the issue. When all is done and the LR garage is happy that the issue is resolved. I'd then run it for a few months and take it in to a local garage who wouldn't have bias on it and get it just checked on the ramp there.

You don't want to pressure the dealership to the point where they are more concerned about getting a complaint than fixing the vehicle, else you might get to the stage of them not reporting things to you.

Goodluck with the situation.
