depends were its leaking and if out of bottom whether shaft is heavily pitted,but can be resealed with box on vehicle if drop arm can be removed ,remove circlip ,place container under box ,start engine and turn steering wheel it will blow seal and retainer out ,stc2848 is seal kit

If not too bad a leak (yours may be past this but maybe still worth a try) - add a capful of brake fluid to the power steering reservoir

you need a 2 leg puller and a big hammer and drift
or, you may get lucky and it just comes off - mine was dead easy, after having been worried about it not coming apart.

for anyone ells whos reading the thread maybe you can help. my steering box has been leaking but the leaking has stopped and the resovoir is still full with fluid. the steering gone heavy as hell..... any Suggestions?
mine is same age and went before i bought the vehicle - was like driving a tank - i replaced the box and it fixed it - mine was also leaking from same place as in picture above! Replacing box was very easy, took me a few hours, and quite a lot of that was undoing the resevoir to box pipe, which was stuck tight!

It worked for me. I accepted that it was a short term fix, a year ago and it's still fine.
yea was an easy repair - just need someone to give you a hand bolting the PAS box back on, it's too heavy to hold and reach round to put the bolts in
