Hi all, the gearbox on my 2002 td5 is leaking! is this a common problem?
would it be the ley shaft bearing or is it likely to be something else?
Does anyone have an idea of cost to have a garage drop out the box and fix it?
You don't say where its leaking, I had a problem with mine, in that the oil was leaking into the handbrake drum, the rear seal had gone, it was an easy fix to replace that one.
No knowledge of any other seals I'm afraid
I had a look yesterday and it seems to be leaking from the front of the box where it meets the engine, thats why i think it my be the ley shaft bearing but not sure?
well i have the same problem will be having a look when i can get the ramp at work free mr2 clutch change taking up space now thats a pig of a job
but be sure it oil and not diesel as diesel can run along the foam pad ontop of the gear box and look like its coming from the gear box if it is diesel its coming from thr fuel pressure regulator www.discovery2.co.uk / Workshop / Fuel Pressure Regulator
My local 4x4 garage had a look this morning and its the fuel pressure regulator which is a bit of a relief! it had a new one fitted under warranty 5 weeks ago at the main dealers so its going to be replaced for free!!
