I have a pinhole leak in the 10mm dia A/c pipe, can a compression fitting be used to repair it? The same brass type as used on copper water pipes.

i don't see any reason why not, as long as you use a pipe cutter to make sure the ends are clean and don't forget to tighten the compression fitting proper, we all know how they leak . you could try it with one of those newfangled pushfit thingy's ;)

Thanks for that, I know we've had our differences on this forum, but at the end of the day we are all here to help each other. Once again thanks, we both turned 60 this year , time to mellow a bit eh.

Are You Trying To Entice The Bad Language Out Of Me Jerry, How Very Dare You Suggest That I Am As Old As You, Don't Think That Just Because We Share A Birth Date You Can Be So Rude, You Cheeky Old Wippersnapper ;)

Wouldn't think of it me old mate, with age comes wisdom, lets pass it on to some of our less fortunate friends.

I'm going to cry :) You guys are friends again, how sweet.
It's not worth figting when you get to your ages. Time is precious, use it well. You wouldn't see me fighting..............much.

Got the leak fixed using a 10mm compression coupling, only trouble then was that a/c system was empty, and had air in it. Worth remembering the Halfords top up kit can't be used if the system has air in it as it needs to be vacuumed out and then refilled. Any way local garage did it and all is well.

does yer a/c hiss from behind the dash when its working? mine does.. i suspect a leak but ah dinnae want to rip all the dash out if a hiss is normal.

It sure does now, fixed the leak myself and garage refilled system, blows as cold as a snowmans fart. By the way the Interdynamics web site is very good if you want to find out about a/c problems in general, and how to use the top up kit.www.interdynamics.co.uk

Is it blowing cold, cos if you have a leak it wont for long. If it's hissing and blowing cold leave well alone.

When yer say a hiss Slob, Is it a ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss sort of hiss
or is it more sssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh or even worse is it a fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffsssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
or is it just the gale that blows thro all the holes in yer series;)

its a hissing when i turn on the a/c and it kinda fades away when i turn it orf. and it sure ain't blowing cold enough, colder than before i stuck a can of stuff in it but no where near cold enough. ama gonna stick a thermometre in it tomorrow just to see how cold it is.

i do believe it will be another trip to another frog garage with it

I can here mine hiss when i stop the motor, cos theres no way youd here it when the fans set to full, and its cowld, but then agen im in Yorkshire and not France

Slob, there's a dye you can get in a can and pump in same as coolant gas, if there's a leak in the system it will show up under a UV light. Might be worth a try before shelling out the euros.

yeah thats the one i put in it .the problem is the hiss is right at the back of the radio/heater and a/c evaporator and neigh on impossibleto see where without takin it all out. it sounds like it near where the pipes from the compressor come through the bulkhead

i tried the stuff from e bay with the sealer, oil and dye in it and ran it for about half an hour and it still does it

The way I spotted where my leak was the oil in the refrigerant had left a mark where it had dripped, its the only clue as you can't see the gas.

looks like it gonna be dash out ..with all that entails.; rad drain center console radio etc etc...ship! ship! ship!. fook it! i'll open a window
cheers aways matey
