Hello everyone, As I'm clean the chassis I've discovered the leaf spring brackets are really tired, meaning they need to go. I was wondering if I could use the leaf spring itself as a positioning tool to remount the new brackets like I have watched other owners do when they replace the front outriggers attached to the bulkhead.

Wouldn't have thought so. There's a lot of movement in geometry with the spring length and shackle angle. Which bracket?

The original ones still there? If so mark their position, cut off and weld replacements in the marked place.

I guess in reality that's the answer to the whole problem. I think I was looking for a way to double check position. Very crust and maybe not first time repair so a certain amount will have to be removed before getting a correct location and is going to be interesting.

So ask members to measure theres as a reference.
Do you have a good front position?
Is your rear crossmember good?

Plank off wood on the ground a few plumbline measurments marked on the plank. Bobs your uncle (could be your aunt though these days)

Is there not a technical drawing with all the measurements in the workshop manual?
