its about time cyclists were made to take out insurance , and pay to use the road . they ride two abreast and wonder why they get knocked off.

From what I gather he overtook them too close, thats all. Dont if they were doubled up but where it happened isnt a suitable place to overtake.

Hmmmm...sounds suspicious, you'd have to be driving pretty close to the cyclists to cause this. Riding horseback on road I've come across some pretty arrogant drivers whereby they pass at speed literally inches from my foot in stirrups as they don't think I have a right to be there, despite being fully insured Now I don't particularly give a sh@t as my horse is very traffic proof and in the past I've deliberately put my boot on the n/s window, you are too close fook orf and I've also had slanging matches with tractor drivers whilst riding. I mean TRACTOR drivers FFS!! Still I opt to be fully insured on the highway on my hoss, unlike many cyclists. Cyclists and horse riders are classed as a pain the arse to some road users.

Ps when driving my Landy...cyclists are such a pain in the arse, are they not?? :p:p

with newport having the veladrome you see big groups of lycra clad cyclists they ride three or even four a breast. Even go straight across roundabouts on sdr(thats the road that every one has to use when tunnels shut). The out skirts of newport the same caerleon usk and goytre.:frusty:

just having a rant , they **** me off.:)

I know. I do find quite a few riders of both bicycles and horses who dont wear suitable clothing for busy roads. Theres a large livery yard near where I work, the road is a shortcut and people speed. Some young riders go out 2 abreast with no high viz. Have been into the stables and spoken to the owner after a near miss when I was confronted by a stray horse after rider was bucked after car came close.

Owner wasnt interested til I pointed out that is riders and/or horses die on this road it will get a reputation and people will avoid there

All lycra clad idiots should be shot. I had a bunch of the twunts come round an almost blind corner toward me (in a merc sprinter) yesterday on a narrow, windey lane whilst cycling 3 abreast and pedalling like they were on a sprint section of the tour de frogland. I was only going slow to suit the nature of the road so could stop, but the lead retards had to slam their brakes on and I was expecting a tangle of wheels and limbs.
Cycles should have registration numbers so these fools can't hide behind anonymity and are brought to account for their dangerous actions.

No horse rider should be on the public highway without Hi-Viz. that should be made a legal requirement, also all horses and riders should be fully insured should an accident occur. also, in my opinion, horses or more specifically their riders, who are not safe in traffic should not be out unaccompanied. Also never two abreast, always single file when traffic needs to overtake. On the flip side there are horse owners and cyclists who are arrogant also!

Seen loads of near miss's with horses most of them single file horses and idiot drivers that panic or drive passed like idiots. The other near miss's were double file horses and car drivers doing nothing wrong.Still think cyclists need to be shot.
The worst thing that really grates me and they need to be banned fookin mobility scooters i've seen kids run over pensioners hit never the silly twot driving them at fault.Round here they even use the main roads:5bbanghead::5bbanghead:

We had a horrendous one here years ago. If any of you have been to the 3 counties showground in malvern you will know that theres a hump bridge on the mainroad to it. There used to be stables down there too.

In malvern we have issues with old drivers with poor eyesight. Needless to say one came over the hump at speed and didnt even see the hack.
Result?
4 horses shot at the scene. Badly hurt riders and old dear was in hospital for 6 months before dying the following year.

Good grief, horrific. :( Hence why we petition for more bridleways! I actually hate riding on the road it really is not safe, if I could avoid it I would and often trailer my horse to good bridleways/forest/beach.

I actually saw a prat come very close to collecting a horse while driving near Flamingo Land t'other day. This daft arse went over a hump back at a quater of a million miles an hour got airborne, when landing it instantly blew 2 tyres and jammed the front left wheel solid. Driver had no control and just headed straight towards the horse, more luck than anything a farmer had left a gate open so the horsie rider had somewhere to go.

You just wonder what sort of clown drives like this? There are massive signs that say "SLOW THE **** DOWN BITCH!" Probably the same sort of arse that will try and squeeze between a bike and oncoming traffic.

I loath coming across bikes because they go so slow, but I will sit behind one for as long as needed until I can overtake them as though they were a slow moving car.

I find most horse riders are OK with the odd one having the opinion that people driving vehicles are scum - I find cyclists are the other way around, it's very rare to find one that gives way / obeys the law / rides sensibly. As a motorcyclist it really annoys me when I see a biker riding like a tit as it reflects on all of us - same as 4x4 drivers, the minority give the public as much ammo as they need to slag the lot of us off.

Cyclist though seem almost universally ****ish so I'd go with the mass cull idea

Recently I was overtaking Lycra-clad idiots riding 3 abreast on a slight incline. It was a pretty busy road and they clearly didn't give a **** so my passenger decided to wind the window down the give them and ear-full. I proceed to put my foot down to pass them and avoid making us look like even bigger tw@ts but unfortunately my little Citroen doesn't have much power uphill. There was a good 20 second abuse period

This is why you should always travel with a broom handle in the passenger seat;)
