Would anyone know what the symptoms would be for failing or failed lambda sensors in a d2 V8????

Very rich mixture,heavy fuel consumption would be a start.
But sticking it on Testbook would be a good first thing to do.

does it idle o/k and noticed any wierd smells.

It does smell a bit from time to time.

Lambda sensors do send out a smell when on the blink.

It would be a burning smell, does that sound right??

Try disconnecting the plug to the sensors I did this about 18 months ago and it solved all my backfiring (LPG) and rough running. MPG is still the same and no noticeable loss of power.

I did replace the O2 sensors but this did not solve the problem.
