Hi all, I have an issue with my L322. As I pulled away from a carpark I heard what sounded like a backfire and as I continued to drive there was a lack of power, it revs ok but feels like its got no boost. When stationary it revs normally, its only when moving it struggles to reach 40mph, This happened out of the blue, was driving fine before the pop sound. Couldnt see any black smoke like when my turbo went on my 300tdi and theres no warning lights lit up. My neighbour said could it be an intercooler hose? I honestly dont know. How do I check hoses? Im not sure where or what to check. Any ideas? all suggestions appreciated.

Looking at the engine from the front, the turbo is on the left of the engine.

The pressure hose comes off the turbo and into the intercooler at the front bottom left. The second hose comes out the intercooler bottom right and goes up to the egr valve on the front right of the engine.

If they're intact, no splits, it's possible the intercooler has let go or the turbo itself has failed.

One common cause of turbo failure is blocked breather filter but you usually get blue smoke warning you thats happening. Sometimes enough to make James Bond look like an amateur.

One last thing to check, the vacuum hoses that run from the turbo, up over the front of the engine by the cam sensor etc, then under the inlet manifold. If that's popped off you'll only get base boost which is half of what you should get.

From what you're describing though, I'd be suspecting hoses, turbo or intercooler in that order.
