Hello,

not long had my Range rover l322 :D

just getting a list together of all the little problems before i take it back on monday to get the bits fixed (as its under warranty :p)

Since iv had it i have noticed that when you turn the steering on full lock to its limit either left or right the power steering makes quite a loud vibrating noise and the car vibrates a lot. if you ease back on the steering the opposite way a slight bit, the noise stops.

Theres definitely a problem with the power steering but do any of you know what the specific problem may be ?

Also i think i have a problem with either my ECU or blower fan resistor as when you open the car and sit inside you can hear a quiet fan running somewhere in the dash console, which results in a flat battery when the cars left for 3 days.

also i noticed sometimes under the bonnet by the battery area i can hear a fan intermittently cutting in and out (sounds like a loose connection) on some sort of fan as it cuts on and off every couple of seconds)

and the Park light stays on when the cars turned off and locked up ?? something about the ECU not shutting down ?? is this a common problem ?

hope someone with more of an idea can help me out

thanks

I can't answer regarding the steering, but with the fan on door opening I'm sure it's something to do with drawing air in to determine in car temperature. Mine does it and I'm sure all do. I can leave mine for weeks without the battery going flat. I doubt this will be the cause of your flat battery . Hope this helps .

i agree the noise is the little fan that draws air from inside the vehicle to measure the inside temp
to see if it shuts down sit in the car switch everything of apply h/brake and select park then lock the doors with the fob and sit still or you may trigger the alarm
then look at the park indicator you will see it illuminated red and you will hear the fan aswell dont touch anything and sit still after about 15-20 min the red light and fan will stop if all is well
park lights staying on after you switch of is likely to be the headlight delay so you can see as you walk away from the car in the dark[ the p38 has this as well ]
the fan you can hear under the bonnet is an ecu cooler it will run for quite a while after you switch of the engine untill it has cooled
again this can be tested by opening the bonnet to allow excess heat to escape or to speed it up faster remove the cover in the front corner near the air filter held on by 10 allen bolt inside you will see the ecu s and the fan in the bottom this will allow heat out faster so you can see if its shutting down or you may have to wait a good while for it to stop
