Following having my 2003 4.4 vogue parked up over winter it seems to had developed a fault.

On trying to start it it doesnt display the gear selector display jumping from park to drive etc and sometimes wont show any display and won't start.

To start it once you go through all the gears and finally get it to stop on park, once you turn the key there's a few seconds delay before it fires up.

Once started it wiil drive and select gears ok, with a long lazy rolling start as if it was a manual with a slipping clutch high revs.

which i have put down to needing fluid in the box.

the gear selector is the main problem, any help out there please.

The Selector switch is mounted on the side of the Box (passengers I think). check the connections for damp and proper movement when the selector is moved.

As Datatek says, cold. damp and un-used...

Thanks guys, in regards to topping up the transmission oil going by other threads I take it I warm up and cycle through modes topping up during each stage till box just overflows.

Level must be checked with the GB Oil temp at 40-50degC.....

As you say go from Park to D and back then re-check...level is correct when it dribbles out.

Certainly sounds like a problem with your inhibitor switch
