working on a 4.4 v8 l322 vogue fitting brake pads etc when eveyrthing is switched of i can hear a noise coming from the engine compartment , 2 ecus in a box behind the air filter box , lifted the lid and there is a extractor fan running for quite a while is this normal ? anyone else heard this ?

The fan operates if the temperature inside the E-box exceeds 35 deg. C.
It draws air from the passenger cabin and exhausts it back there again, which is why it can be heard from inside the vehicle.
