Has anyone changed the alternator on a L322 TD6 before - is it watercooled or is that just the V8?

Need to get it refurbed as it's draining the battery (had it tested and confirmed - now need to rectify). Rave isn't overly useful for alternator removal, anyone actually done it?

I'm not sure, but I think it's only the V8 that's water cooled, if it's mounted in the same place on the M57 motor as it is on the M51 it's a piece of cake to get off.
 
Correct only the V8 is water cooled!

I need to sit down and read RAVE....
Strictly the Alternator itself as a unit isn't water cooled, but it sits in a water cooled housing/jacket....as attached...

+1 simply unbelievable just how complex cars have become these days.
I thought the newer landies were too complex until I looked under the covers of my mate's toyota camry hybrid :eek:. That thing has more electrics than a space shuttle.
