hiya guys.

I checked my engine oil today and it was extremely black, so i rang kwik fit to see what they would charge to just replace the engine oil and filter, as i didnt wish to leave it

Well they used shell oil and i was really pleased and only charged £29.95 inc vat, to change the engine oil and filter

This however must be me but the freelander seemed to be a completely different beast, ticked over lovely at traffic lights and was quieter.

I also spoke to ron this morning and bought a synergy 2 with a dashboard switch.was really impressed very polite , knowledgable and nothing seemed to much trouble , a rare quality these days to get good customer care

Got the BMW crankcase upgrade kit for £49.15 inc vat for part number
B11.12.7.799.224.Looks a nice piece of kit. This was from the BMW main dealer

Plus purchased the egr bypass kit the one recommended on here with the thick base.

Im hoping to see if i can get 40mpg on a run, but ron did advise me they synergy's do make a difference.

Ive been trying to search for the inlet gaskets as im going to take the manifold off for cleaning, has anyone got a link please, i think there are 4 x round, 4 x square and i large

Also would someone be so kind to tell me where the turbo filter is located in the engine bay please as i cannot find it anywhere. its most proberly under my nose

can anyone recommend anything else that i may need to do please.

thanks as always

gary

The crank case breather kit you got and the turbo filter are the same thing. it is located right next to the air filter.

hiya.

thanks for your reply

im getting confused as they call it a turbo boost pressure control valve vent filter , they say in the haynes manaul it hangs over the rear of the engine but i cannot find it

thanks as always

No there not the same thing. the turbo solenoid vent should be hanging on the end of a vacuum pipe by the maf sensor.

If your talking about the boost pressure solenoid valves, there are 2 of them. One next to the MAF, and one near the air filter. Both have small filters connected to the bottom of them.

i missread the original post, hence the answer i gave. Sorry about that.

Should look like this:

I think Chaser is talking about this one:

:) Only one boost control solenoid and only one filter as pictured above hanging by the maf sensor.

The other similar, but not the same, solenoid valve bolted to cylinder head next to no. 4 glowplug if for EGR and no vent filter.

Crankcase breather, completely different animal, lives in it's housing on top of camshaft cover.

If it's a diesel you have then don't change it every time it's black or you will be changing it every week. 100m from a change and you'll find it black again.

thanks so much guys, matt td4 may i ask what software program that is please, ive totally given up with microcat as i simpley cannot get it to work with vista.

i changed the oil, because since owning the car ive become very suspect of the previous service done by the old owner.

have been slowly going through the car.

thanks again guys will see if i can find the turbo filter
