Hi,
Just a few questions
I have a 90 fitted with anti roll bars!
What are the benefits with or without on and off road please?
Also is removal an easy procedure and would any other alterations have to be made to anything else after removal many thanks!

Any detail regarding defender 90 off road prep greatly appreciated...

If you mainly drive on the road, leave them on , as the car is more stable when cornering.
If you spend a lot of time off road you might want them off, as they limit articulation slightly.
Although I do a few pay and plays and I have them ,and they don't really seem to hamper me at all.

They just unbolt so you could whip them off and see if like it or not.

Anti-roll bars reduce body roll, but limit suspension travel.

Good for on road handling, but they will hinder you a little off road - the more travel and flex you need, the more you would notice them...

No need to jack up to remove is there, can it be done just with wheel on tarmac?

I'd jack up the body, not all the way but on the floor the ARB is under tension, so enough to "relax" the ARB.

Would I be right to think I can just jack under front or rear dif and just partially jack the landy, not so it is of the floor but just taking the weight?
Is this right?

no, under the chassis/xmember, under the diff will just lift the axle and make no difference to the ARB.

You might be better off undoing the nuts on the axle for the anti roll bar links while it's under load, stops the "bolt" part trying to turn. Then as Tim has said, jack up the chassis to take the load off.

it was tonights job but got side tracked as always!

If you are on level ground the arb will not be under any tension at all, only when one wheel is higher or lower than the other.
You could just remove the bolts on the axle and tie it out of the way just to try it

That makes sense but the heynes manual recommends axle stands and jacking to support weight? is this just over kill?
does the weight of the vehicle stood not put pressure on the arb?

over kill as said above as long as vehicle level with equal weight on both wheels

My next question without opening another thread for the simplest of task,

can an earth connection be exposed to weather?
for example
earthing roofbar to accommodate cb antenna, earthing via roof spot lights?

While body is common earth it is better to keep ariel way from other electrical earths or your get noise or swr issues

Alright pal,

Removed my arb's on my 200tdi....

It has made the the world of difference off road, keeps 4 wheels on the ground more due to no restriction of articulation therefore increasing capability! It does increase body roll but only really noticable at the extremes! You can get a feel for how they work by just observing the arb's whilst somebody rocks your truck side to side, or even in an off road convoy with a truck with arb's fitted! (A good example)

on road as per the tread comments it can largely depend on your driving style!
As a result of the increased body roll when traveling at speed cornering can become dangerous, and even motorway driving ie having to swerve or make corrections again at speed!

All that been said.......after the removal of mine I have not had to change how I drive, the main thing is being aware of the changes and driving within the vehicles capabilities!
