Hi,
I've only got one fob but it's probably a sane idea to get a second, but I have no idea if the one I have is key 1 or key 2
Is there any way to find out, so I don't end up with 2 the same?
Does it even matter?

Should be printed on the back. Failing that you need electronics. Marty can do it and so can mrsporty (probably Rick too) but other than that it is main dealer. Most people order key #4 on assumption it came with 1 and 2 and maybe 3 was ordered last time!

cheers, the fob is in a shocking state! no label of any kind remains. I need to go via the stealer to get a fob so they can identify it for me then

Key #4? That's a new one on me, I though key #3 was the limit.

You'll be lucky, some dealers seem to think that only key #1 is available.

Yes, because you would only be able to sync one of them. The safe option is usually to order Key #3 but you may have a fight to get a stealer to agree.

ok thanks. if i purchase a second key and it doesn't work as a second key, then they will be able to keep it until it does. surely it's up to them to provide correct parts.
heres to hoping they are able to identify which number my existing key is!!

Yes, the electric seats won't go to the programmed positions but seeing as my seats are manual it doesn't affect me!

The key I've got doesn't adjust the seats, just mem1 and mem2 buttons on the seat

I thought you could programme it so that it went to the correct driving position depending which fob was used?

Just realised I might be mixing it up with the Jag. Still, you'd think if a 1990 Jag did it the RR would too!

I'm surprised you'd have memory buttons and key memory, assumed it would be one or the other

It works! You learn something new every day haha!
'lazy seats' only works if you have superlocked the vehicle
I've now answered my own question!! Seats adjust to memory position 2, so my key must be key number 2!!
Order key number 1 and I'll be sorted!! No fancy electronics required

Yes, that makes sense. So it is possible if you have memory seats!
