hi both key fobs have stopped working and will not sink when inserted into ignition can start by using code sequence but both fob's will not sink have tried new batteries no change anybody experienced this or know what it could be ?

If fobs have lost sync you cannot resync them until EKA code has been used to disable engine disabled message. Apply EKA code, then if they are working correctly they should sync.
 
As above, and a silly question, but have you tried resynching it in another location? A couple of people have found that there's one place they park that they get RF interference and it stops the fob from working, but then they've moved the vehicle and all is good again.

Also, I have had a couple of people where the newer Mark III receivers have actually failed - working fine one day, dead the next. I've got one of them on my bench, but I can't as yet find any simple reason why it's failed.
 
both fobs are lighting when pressed but do not light when placed in ignition as they do normally ,will try in another location , with the dead receiver when you say receiver do you mean key fob or do you mean something else inside vehicle ??
 
As Brian mentions above - I'm referring to the RF receiver inside the vehicle. The P38 is known for having problems with the BECM being woken up due to interference and the receiver not filtering it out - It's not uncommon to find that it's either had the antenna (blue wire) unplugged to reduce the range, or the whole thing (3 pin white connector) disconnected to then allow the BECM to sleep properly and not flatten the battery.
 
will check it out still don't understand why the fobs aren't syncing ie reacting red led flashing when inserted into ignition after EKA is used or is the receiver also part of the synchronization system also why both fob's went down so quickly after working fine only minutes earlier .the main battery was in a low state of charge when this all happened
what does BECM stand for and what does it do?
 
Body Electrical Control Module. It controls the electrical systems on the vehicle. If the battery is in a low state of charge then this can cause problems
 
First rule with electrical problems on a p38 make sure the battery is top notch or anything can happen for no apparent reason.
 
Battery and the +ve/-ve power cables as they can also cause voltage drops if they have corroded.

The LED on the remote handset is only a sign that it is transmitting (or should be transmitting) to the vehicle. When the key is put in the ignition, the BECM detects that the key has been inserted and then energises a coil around the ignition which is picked up in the remote and it then sends a code to sync it to the vehicle/turn immobiliser off (if it's on).

If the RF receiver isn't connected or working, then the signal sent from the key fob isn't received into the vehicle and passed on to the BECM (to make sure it is the correct remote for the vehicle). This will stop the key from being synced to the vehicle and the remote from working with the central locking.
