Hi, I've changed the batteries three times on my key fob and they don't seem to last very long,I keep getting key battery low message on thev dash.I'm not using cheap Chinese ones. I've even sent the fob back to the guy who refurbed it as I got the message a week or so after I got it back. The only thing I can think of is a sticking button but the red light only illuminates when the buttons are pressed.Anyone got any ideas, and no I'm not playing with it in my pocket @holidaychicken ,@gold rover before you say it.

@tomcat59alan As if! I know you have bigger things to be dealing with ;)
On a serious note, I'm having the same issue. I changed mine in the summer.......first time in 6 years...... since then I've changed them about four times because of message or having to stand right next to car to get into work. Latest one was changed about November, been having the refusing to lock issue , intermittently, for last couple of weeks and thought it was just because lock button is very worn*. Yesterday got the "battery low" message. Bought new ones straight away, Duracell as always. Got on with my day , no more message, forgot about it, until this afternoon when had to press about 6 times to lock her.
Like you red light is coming on, buttons not stuck. So sorry not got an answer but thought you might like to know , you are not alone.

*Why does the lock button get so mashed up , but the open doesn't. Surely you lock the vehicle as often as you unlock it, so they should have similar wear?

Weird.. I've been getting the "not playing today" scenario as well!! And I love twiddling my keys... Oh my err ...I'll be watching this one for sureo_O

Check that the side of the second battery to go in is not touching the conductor strip that takes power from the bottom battery to the circuit board contact. A bit of insulation tape round inside of battery holder over strip sorts this.

Cheers Tony will try that.
@tomcat59alan , @Mark Piercy Do you know which brand of battery you are using? Wondering if it's the batteries that are the issue. I have been buying Duracell.
Duracell, too many months in my case to be a bad batch I would have thought. We will have to try Tony's fix.

I think they were Duracell.. I've just tried opening the fob and it won't open and it's chewing plastic... I'll wait until I have to open it to change dead batteries....sorry gold....

No worries Mark, it was just a thought. @tomcat59alan I will take a look inside mine to see if it might be similar to the P38 set up.

Amazing, you can see what batteries he's fitted just by opening your fob, mind you women know what we're thinking even if we're asleep.:p:D

Put the glass down and step away from the alcohol.
In other words , reread the post. There is a full stop between my comment to Mark and the comment about checking my own fob ( for plastic strip)

Panasonic, that's what they are. I think they were replaced a year ago???
I've been asleep since then.

Spoil sport I'm in holiday mode, packed my thong and sunnies ready for the off tomorrow.;)

For a vehicle that cost so much when new why did they make the fobs out of the cheapest materials a available?
Because that way they can screw us over and over again and blame us for the wear and tear. Make it out of cheap tat and charge over £300 a time to replace.

my fob is 14 years old so it ain't done bad, I always use energizer if i can for all my batteries , the lithium ones i have found to be much better than durexcell.

@tomcat59alan Off to the island again then ?
