Hi
My 1.8 petrol freelander has a problem
Hard to start and when she dose smokes like a train for a few minutes then clears missis on a few cylinders and lacks power.
H,g,f or inlet manifold
Any more ideas what it could be Before I scrap it and get a disco as I've chucked enuf money at it already.

sounds like the hg mate . if its called a landrover then your always going to be chucking money at it

If it looses water then there is a good chance it's HGF
Why not fix it and sell it on ? In the end it's easier than having bits of Freelander hanging about!!

alter yo usercp to show where yu are - than pm diesel doo who will relieve you of folding beer tokens to fix it, but fixit he will.

It's lost A bit of water since headgasget was done about 3 or 4 years ago. Its ony done about 10k since The only thing I had left to change/check was the inlet manifold.

well, change the inlet manifold gasket and see if it makes a difference.

they are only about a tenner.

make sure it sits properly afore torqueing up.

while the manifold is off, bash out the ball bearing from the jiggle valve.

Was gona change the whole manifold and gasget at the weekend as suspect hairline crack in manifold only noticed about 2 weeks ago dripping water from under it when warm. I only do about 5 miles in it a day so doesn't get up to temp very often. This smoking ect only started tonight when I finished work which is all I needed as I've been up since 7.30 yesterday morning.

swap it out, if that dunt eliminate the problem...well it's not looking good at all.


i percivered with mine as i still believe the K Series is the best engine ever built (seriously)

If this happened sat night we would of had a fire with our fire works.
This car/engine is really @"£&;ing me off now. I will give the old girl one more chance and change manifold and see what happens.

I think she is properly going to the freelander place in the sky shall find out next week.
