Just replaced the bearing in the belt tensioner as it was squealing away despite being a Dayco part that’s only 2 years old.

The new bearing required is a 6203RS got mine off ebay for £1.40 inc delivery

Easy job and would have only taken 15 mins if the clip holding the bearing in would have come out easily, but that alone took me 15 mins of fiddling before it give up and popped out.

The bolt holding the bearing on is left hand thread that’s the main thing to remember.

So a 30 min job in all.

I done mine few months back as I thought it was making the squlling noise , quite easy to do tbh
But in my case turned out to be alternator bearing

I could feel some play in mine and the squeal has gone

That clip is a pain in the arse! It took some getting out, but i got mine out, replaced the bearing, and found that the bearing was slack on the tensioner arm. I shimmed mine up with a drinks can and now it doesnt squeel at all, even after being under a river for 5 odd hours!

Not sure if that bearing number is correct.I always found a 6203RS fitted 17mmx40mmx12mm.

I'm not sure about the 300tdi bearing but I'm pretty sure that the TD5 uses the 6303rs skf bearing. 17mm x 47mm x 14mm

Sorry,thought we talking about a 300tdi as that's what in the OP profile.

That is the correct part I will edit my post, dont know how I got that other number

If you bearings are loose in the pulleys use locktight

which is why I said that I'm not sure about the 300tdi but I know that the TD5 was 6303RS.

You know what Land Rover are like for utilising the same parts over several models.
