My 300 tdi 110 had a new clutch fitted after the old one started slipping. Almost as soon as I had it done the 110 started juddering badly each time I set off even in reverse and if anything has got worse. Otherwise its ok, although the new clutch did smell for a long time after fitting. Any ideas very welcome.
 
Hi ive a similar problem with mine.could be oil contamination.faulty clutch.pressure plate might not be mated to flywheel properly.have u checked to makesure all bolts on bell housing are there and tight.this is all what i was told
 
Thanks RP the clutch pressure plate was covered in oil but well cleaned before fitting and the other part would not fit as the hole in the centre was not the right size so the old one had new parts rivetted on.
 
Well good question - all I can say is that my son who was watching closer than me said Aziz surprisingly had the correct cleaning fluid.
 
If he did he said nothing. Putting a spare clutch in a box with a collection of oils and one of them bursting open after several thousand miles in Western Sahara was the reason - tell me how stupid I am.

Does this mean that you riveted on new friction material to the old clutch plate? If so the judder when taking off is probably down to some of the new material that was put on being slightly out of alignment and part of the clutch is engaging early creating the judder. If your replacing the clutch you really want to do the whole thing with a complete kit
 
I had a new clutch fitted to an old car of mine and it did the same - I left it for a few months thinking it'd be alright, then it knackered the seals on the gearbox which sprayed oil all over the brand new clutch! I ended up replacing both and then sold it for £300! Learn from my mistake and get it re-aligned before it's too late!
 
Yes rivitted on new friction material. Did wonder if this could be the problem, but most interested whether I should replace the clutch again. Looks like I should and then keep the old as a spare. Its done 6000 miles since done. Didn't have any choice at the time as in WS with days if not weeks to wait for a replacement.
 
Mine does the same but it only seems to be when it's cold. Once it's warmed up it seems fine. Reading some of the posts above I'm wondering if I should be worried ?
 
If it's juddering then those vibrations won't be doing any seals etc any favours, get it changed before you need a new box as well
 
Yea will do - it judders like hell when setting off - parked up inside at moment until next trip so no harm just for now.
