hi ive got a freelander td4 on a y 2001 plate, ive got water loss but cant find where its coming from i get a few small drips, but when the car is in use its next to no loss at all, all gauges ect show fine, can anyone help

My rad went recently, because its a pressured coling system, it'll only show up when alls up and running. Start her up, leave her running for 5-10mins to get her up to operating temp, then have a look around underneath and see if you can see where its leaking from(mine was a pinprick in the rad behind the cooling fan...only noticed it because of a small spray from behind the fan cowl...)
Give that a try, and if that's no good, one of the fogies on here will doubtless have some other ides to try...
Just fort, check the carpets in both footwells for any damp..cud be heater matrix, common one...

its really annoying me, it seems to be dripping more from the sump plug area though cant fully tell what with that bloody guard on thats a pig to get off, thanks for the help though ill give ita try and ill check the floor, when it drops it looks like oily water
aye it could be yer air con working fine.
if when you say next to no lose you mean the level dint go down.
dint know where the A/C drains on gaylanders but 2 small puddles under yer car is a sign all is well with yer air con. i
f you got a guard or belly plate then you might only have one small puddle.
ming gets a small puddle in his but only if porky hasn't been fer his walkies yet

dint know where the A/C drains on gaylanders but 2 small puddles under yer car is a sign all is well with yer air con. iThe aircon drips from a black pipe attached to the bulkhead, RHs if you're looking from the front if I remember right...If I'd a penny for everyone who's pointed out I'd got a leak from underneath, I'd have 261/2p..

ive had the engine cover off and found where it is im no mechanic but it looks to me as though its coming from the thermostat housing, it looks as though the gasket is leaking, its on the left hand side of the td4 engine follow the main pipe from the expansion tank and its not far from there, question is is it ok to leave and just top up now n again or will it have to go into the garage yet again, can anyone help

hi mondo ive just looked through the workshop manual and it said on the td4 that the water pump has to be removed to do the job, witch looking through the diagrams i think is beyond me, is this correct, do you recommend i live with it, or will it get worse, ive already spent £1600.00 on repairs since xmas on the lanny and dont want to spend any more

Just looked at the the Rave cd and tis a bit of a crap place to fit a thermostat innit
If i wer int same boat as yer I"d probly just keep an eye on it,

hi mondo, i think i solved problem, i dryed it all up and bought some of that liqued metal stuff in a tube i mixed it well and then pushed it onto the gasket area forcing it in as hard as i could you only have minutes to do this as it starts to harden, that was last friday night its now tuesday and its now bone dry, so hopefully its problem solved
