hi, does anyone know the end result about the range rover wich jay bought from a reputable dealer ,via the callisle auctions .and dodgy carluke mot ???????????????????

If it's the same Jay, he's on enery8's thread and mentions changing airbags. Looks like he's copped out and accepted repair rather than refund. Sounds like trouble to me.

It is the same Jay

And I'd say it were a smart move.

He gets a cheque to repair the car.

He gets the car he wanted.

Fixes it himself and gets the car and the dosh :D :D

As far as a couple of mechanics can see its hadnt been in a bump, the axle out of line is due to the pan rod been bent. Spoke to British car auctions (where trader brought it from) they said all to often delivery companies chuck straps in the most convienient places, not the correct place.

Looks like it had a strap around the pan rod whilst been transported.

I had to send the Solicitor a letter saying I accpeted the cheque, which I have done but stated that I only accepted this once the cheque had cleared.

As it statnds now we have the Mondeo TDCI Ghia x (Mrs Car and a cracking motor), I have the Jeep Grand Cherokee I brought but just cannot bond with it, its great but not the same as the rangie, even if it is the sensible choice, so going to sell that.

Rangie that I can start work on, brakes first, then air bags, pan rod, Cv boots and oil leak.

I want to keep the rangie ideally as I do have a soft spot for it, even with all the trouble I have had.

Mrs likes the Jeep but is happy for me to sell it, other option would be a defender or D2 but I will get the Rangie up and running and see if she warms to it.

After all your troubles I hope you feel that you have an outcome that you can live with.

Good luck with sorting out the remaining issues!

Pete

well I have got the time to be waiting 6months or so to go through the courts, need the rangie back on the road, and I do really want to get it sorted, the car deserves another chance.

Sorry guys, cheque cleared and withdrew the cash to start getting it sorted,

Brakes sorted, CV joints and boots done, Panrod purchased and going to replace it this weekend. Getting Airbags on sat and hopefully get time on sun to change them.

All that should be left then is the oil leak.

Pocketing most of the labour costs myself and enjoying working on it as well.
