its snowing and cold which means salt in turn means disco,s and fenders in the garage sayin hello mr welder because the chassis has gone, to be replaced with rust.:)
 
2 to 3 inches of snow for us un still falling. Always carry shackles un 2x 30 foot recovery ropes. One day I'll find a stuck tratter...

Wiv all that road salt I think the tratterers who benefitted from the Xmas biscuit tin collection will be putting their patch repair kits to good use soon.
 
Has anybody got a list of the ground clearance of various LandRovers?

Could be surprising if the official LR data was used.
 
Think these are correct:

Freelander 1 minimum 186mm - rave disk owners manwell
Freelander 2 up to 210mm front, up to 265mm rear - sales cat
Disco 4 up to 310mm with air suspension - sales cat
Tratter with puma engine minimum 250mm - sales cat
Evoke up to 215mm front, up to 240 rear - sales cat
Range Rover L322 up to 283mm (called off road) - sales cat
Range Rover Sport up to 227mm (called off road) - sales cat

I think we'd all agree that the capability of any 4x4 is only limited by the ability of the driver.....

You can take the very best fettled Defender 90 with all the gizmo's gadgets and equipment, and a complete nugget will put it in a ditch on a wet rainy day, let alone a few inches of snow.

(Sunday morning) I've just come in from clearing the snow off my inclined driveway, some passerby asked why I was bothering to clear the snow as I had a Land Rover,....

I just pointed at my wifes Vauxhall Astra parked alongside the Land Rover..... nuff said!:)

CB40's comment on capability of drivers reminds me that last year when I arrived late for work I was met with the stoopid comment, 'Your LandRover can't be up to much, then.'

My reply was (expletives deleted) to the effect that 'It did not respond very well to the jumping exercises I was giving it - so I had to stay behind the folks who were blocking the road in front.'

Several times in the last few years I've come up to road closed signs and driven across the fields.

I've also heard traffic news bulletins telling me that the road I had just reached the end of was completely unpassable.

The media are having a field day today, and as usual we are getting shots of folks with summer tyres, without any winter kit - not even an ice-scraper.

We are reduced to the capabilities of the weakest link in the chain.

Just seen a rock-group guy trying to clear his windows with what looked like an old scrap piece of plywood. Dear, dear.

I have been out for a 40 mile bimble this morning to exersize the injector cleaner. I cannot belive the ammount of twonks driving around with roofs and bonnets piled high with snow. My freebie 1 fresh back from repairs got me about east Kent no problem, We live on just about the highest point in Kent, 6 or so inches of snow last night, no snowplows or gritters here and no problem driving about in the white stuff, to get to gritted roads.

I am driving on Insa Turbo Rangers, brilliant tyres in these mixed conditions.
 
who says the freelander isnt capable, pulled 3 cars up my street hill this morning 6 inches of snow, td4 wasnt fazed.
but it is funny seeing people drive 5mph in there 4x4
