My 90 has developed overnight, a stiff steering wheel, then it will free up and all will be fine for 100 yrs, then stiffen again. I've checked the fluid level, thats ok, there are no leaks, i've looked in fluid res while putting steering lock on both sides, there is a shimmering of the fluid, but i cant tell if its moving under the vibration of steering lock being applied.
Pump buggered ?

look at ujs on steering linkage too

Power steering pump ??
steering damper failed ??
I'm having the same problem, I replace me steering box all was good for a few days then it started to go stiff again. And it's stiffer to turn left

I would check UJ, disconnect from steering box and see how it feels. If it was the pump/box I would expect more juddering and vibrations from it...

Had similar problem last year, turned out to be a slightly bent track rod binding in the guide under the diff.

For me I fit new uj's with new box and I have HD steering bars fitted a few month back
