My 2nd hand replacement 300tdi engine has died, and i've got the chance of an isuzu 2.8 engine as a replacement.I've looked on a few forums including here and it seems a good transplant, but usually onto a manual box in a defender.
Does anyone know how easy it is to go in an auto disco?I know the exhaust will have to be modded, and I think I'll have to change to a cable pump as mine is EDC fly by wire. The engine I'm looking at has the adapter to the landy gearbox already fitted.

Overheated and no.4 bore/piston u/s.I used a 2nd hand block to replace previous one that had serious probs.Looked at getting another 300 but going for silly money.Ideally,i just need a block, but the isuzu is a good price.

most cooling probs are poor rad whatever you do check its hot all over when next running, try 01673863322 for engine as conversion is likely to cost somewhere near cost of 300 doesnt need to be edc as you have parts to swap over

rusted discos go for silly cheap all the time, thats the way to buy an engine,if you get one taken out for you its the wrong side of £400.Saying that I bought a short 300 for £130 delivered on e bay....

....either way, much less hassle than fitting a lump with all the match up pieces....they are available in the LR mags...at a price
