Thank you all very much.
You're a very helpful (and knowledgable) bunch.

I've spoken to the garage and they're replacing the clutch later this week and I'm free to go and re-test drive the car if I'd like to at the weekend. I really like the car so I'm tempted to do so and see if they've fixed the problem.

I'm off to do some more brushing up on my landy research!!

Well done you!...test drive, ask LZ if you think theres a problem, report back to garage explaining the problem to them, garage sort it, you buy it if you want to ...thats how to do it! ;)

Also have a look underneath and make sure there are 2 prop shafts with the vcu between them ..it may have been converted to front wheel drive only - hiding what maybe an expensive vcu / rear diff fix, have a search about it on here :)

Ask if you can go and have a look at the under body while it's up on the ramps. That way you'll see if they have replaced the clutch if you time it just right. Tell them your very interested in the car and make sure they have replaced the slave and master cylinders at the same time.

And as Brack say's make sure there are two props attached to the rear axle. It should look like the picture below.

Cheeky maybe but what's the saying "shy Bairns get nowt" ;)

I'll check it out and make sure that it all seems ok and working properly before handing any cash over. I definitely don't want to buy a dud car that's going to cost me a fortune. I know landrover are high maintenance cars but I don't think it's unreasonable to want to buy one in full working order!! Haha

Again thank you all for your knowledge sharing

Just be careful as many have been stung by buying the wrong Freelander. Maybe consider getting it AA / RAC checked before parting with any cash ;)
