Just been out doing a few odd jobs as you do in the sun shine.
And was going to have ago at cleaning my rad and intercooler out when i noticed this in the top right hand corner of my radiator.

I am experiencing NO overheating temp sits dead on half even after 3 hour motorway or a days greenlaning.

Should i replace it to guard against over heating or monitor temp and if it starts to rise replace then?

Cheers Sam

It's the cooling fins between the water galleries corroding. It's not going to be a problem to the already over-cooled lndrover but it does mean the copper's getting a bit thin. Probably worth looking around for a new one 'cos it'll start leaking sooner rather than later.

You'll smell the hot coolant when it starts to go - it's at the top of the rad so it probably won't fail catastrophically, but I'd order a new one.....

Mine was like that and it burst one day on the motorway towing another landy.

Had to pinch the rad off the 90 I was towing.:)

Ok, Well funds dont allow for a new one at the moment :(

I guess ill save some pennys this month and hopefully get one ordered up before its too late.

£100 is what i can find them for on ebay not sure if its Britpart though :(

Anyone no of anywhere to get one at a good price?

They're not expensive, but if it's not broken why fix it?

Because sods law dictates that when it does break it will be at the most inconvenient time possible, so if you know somert needs sorting why take the risk, when you can get it sorted at a time of your choosing ;););)

I fitted a Britpart rad on mine, and to be honest it seemed alright to me, but i'm far from an expert;);)

Hmm ok grimmer paddocks got them for around £100 aswell but thats is almost certainly britpart.

I will have to save some pennies and get one asap.

Just get yourself some metal bungs, the plastic ones that come with the rad are ****e;);), It only took me an hour or so to change my rad, and a lot of that was because the clip on the bottom hose was all chewed up and I had to cut it off:mad::rolleyes::eek:

If you can afford to have the vehicle off the road for a few days you could get your rad recored - you specify the quality of the bits and you can be absolutely sure it'll fit back in.
